Wadebridge stands at the head of the Camel Estuary in North Cornwall,about 8 miles from the sea. The town was a traditional market town - it's famous 17-arch stone bridge, built in 1468 provided the main crossing point of the River Camel. For the communities on both sides of the River, Wadebridge was and still is an important place to meet and do business.

Now by-passed by the main A39 Wadebridge has retained it's traditional atmosphere whilst at the same time it's facilities and community has grown. Visit Wadebridge and you will discover a surprise around every corner. Take shopping - with pedestrianisation and new developments has come an eclectic mix of local shops and galleries. Fine local food and drink,beautiful hand made and bespoke furniture, hardware and homewares - including one of Cornwalls finest lighting galleries,works by local artists, potters and crafts people are all housed in interesting galleries and shops. For the fashion conscious some of Cornwall's finest surf and shoe shops are here alongside an array of ladies and teenage boutiques. Shopping in Wadebridge also offers the opportunity to sample local foods - there is a weekly country produce market in the Town Hall and in town an award winning tea -shop for that afternoon cream tea!

Onto the evening and Wadebrige boasts a wide selection of pubs and restaurants and the town plays host to the only cinema in North Cornwall. Indian, Chinese, Italian and English dishes are available with Tapas too alongside take aways including kebabs, burgers and the more traditional Fish and Chips. There is a good selection of pubs - the Earl of St Vincent in Egloshayle has a good reputation for food, the Ship Inn offers cosy nights in winter and the Bridge on Wool - named after the Bridge which built the towns fortunes offers live bands and Cask beer. Entertainment isn't in short supply either! The Town Hall is the setting for local plays,amateur dramatics, youth theatre groups, recitals and choirs while the two screen cinema has the very latest releases.
